Ian is known for his broad civil practice across all areas of Complex Personal Injury, health & safety-related claims/enforcement and Coroner’s Inquests and Inquiries, as well as acting for the emergency services, local authorities and sporting bodies.

Ian is well-respected for his work across Complex Personal Injury, including claims relating to occupiers’ liability, employers’ liability, health & safety, work stress and traffic and fatal accidents.

He has extensive experience in Coroners’ Inquests and clients range from individuals driving when involved in a fatal accident, through to the emergency services and, in particular, the police. Ian has acted as the lead consultant to BPP on witness skills and courtroom training for the police service and other agencies including local authorities, SFO and various other law enforcement bodies.

Ian has an established practice in the field of sports law and is currently preferred counsel to the British Karate Federation.

Ian serves as a national higher court advocacy assessor and is involved in the assessment of lawyers from other jurisdictions, as well as solicitors from England & Wales wishing to qualify to practise in the higher courts of this country.
